Bakewell Market and Matlock Bath

Bakewell Market (3 hr stay). Then onto Matlock Bath (1 hr stay). The largest market in the Derbyshire Dales, Bakewell stall market occupies two sites and has over 162 stalls. The stall market dates from the 1920’s although markets and fairs have been held in Bakewell since the 1300s. Bakewell itself is a beautiful vibrant and progressive town with a rich history and a top visitor destination, the benches facing the beautiful river Wye gives visitors a chance to rest for a while, there are also benches in the delightful Bath Gardens on Bridge Street.

Then on to  Matlock Bath which is a popular destination for families, bikers and fun seekers, there are plenty of things to do and see. It is a popular tourist destination since the late 17th Century when the spa waters were discovered, its' heyday was in Victorian times when it became known as "Little Switzerland" by the poet, Lord Byron. It's a great place where you can enjoy the views of the River Derwent or stroll around the shops too.
